HARGEISA– Hargeisa International Book Fair (HIBF) is an annual cultural event that has kicked off on Saturday in Hargeisa, Somaliland capital. It is one of the largest public book fairs in the Horn of Africa. Every summer, HIBF brings writers, poets, artists and thinkers from Somaliland and from all over the world gather to share and discuss their art and literary productions with a wider audience. This year the event has got much money from Women of World (WoW) which was founded by Jude Kelly.
On the other hand, Jude Kelly is the director of Southbank center in the UK which campaigns for same sex marriage or gay.
According to an article pusblished in the Standard, Ms. Judy Kelly has said that everyone can learn a lot from “Gay Society”
This is a quote “Every one, she says can learn from the gay community, who embrace a much wider view of sexuality. Gay rights are close to her hearth; she tells me proudly that her 27 years old daughter, Caroline a poet, is a gay and will be marrying her partner later this year. Kelly is opening the Southbank as wedding venue to straight and gay couples for the power to be wed weekend this summer.”
Ms. Judy Kelly has held discussions and meetings with young girls as well as organizations.
Somaliland citizens did not know much about the work that Judy Kelly is involved but it was the duty of the government to stop her from entering Somaliland and attend such an event that stimulates culture adhesion rather than inviting such a person who lobbies for same sex marriage or gay.
This would have an impact on Somaliland citizens if she is not prevented at the right time.
